Welcome to Year 1
We are so thrilled to have all of the children back in the classroom again and it is great to see that they have all settled back into their learning so well. We are very proud of all of our achievements this year!
With just one more half term left in year 1, we have a busy but exciting time ahead of us.
This half term our theme in Literacy will be robots and we will be reading a story which I am sure we are going to love- No Bot by Sue Hendra. We will explore the characters and the plot before we write our own creative stories and we have been working hard with our writing all year!
In maths we will be practising and consolidating all of our learning throughout from throughout the year, focusing on multiplication and division.
Our geography topic this half term will be field work, as we explore our school playground and create our very own maps. This links in beautifully with our DT project as we will be designing and making our own playground equipment!
In Science we will be continuing with our work on Materials and will become scientists as we carry out lots of exciting experiments.
Handwriting and phonics will be a big focus this half term and it would be great if you could encourage your child to read daily and practise their letter formation at home.
Homework will be sent out via Showbie on Fridays and is due to be collected in on Wednesdays every week. Please support your child with the completion of these tasks and with the learning of those tricky words for their spellings.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to speak to one of the year one team.
